By the end of the course the delegate will be up to date and properly equipped with the knowledge, skills and resources to be able to operate sit-in ATV’s in a Safe and Productive way (and for a successful assessment, as required).
Identify the risks associated with the use of sit-in ATV’s, as well as hazards specific to the site and task
Select appropriate Personal Protective Equipment
Identify and understand the function of all instruments, controls and safety decals
Carry out daily checks as indicated in the operators manual
Carry out pre-start checks
Identify and report any faults
Assessing terrain and manoeuvring procedures
Start up and drive over a variety of terrain and ground conditions
Carry out ‘failed hill’ climb
Identify loading/towing capacities
Drive with loads and/or trailed equipment, as well as reversing and parking
Load and secure for transport on the road (if appropriate)
Legal & practical requirements for travelling on the public road
Perform cleaning and post-operation inspection and maintenance
Safe refuelling & procedures with flammable liquids
Assessment - as required, approximately 1½ hour of assessment to show:
Safe preparation, operation & handling of the sit-in ATV’s
Selection & safe use of personal protective equipment
Operating and complying with legal requirements
Who should attend?
Suited for anyone to whom the regulations apply; anyone required to operate a Sit-in ATV as part of their work. This would include novice and experienced operators who require certification on their skills updating.
